  • The process can be used to produce beautiful desk accessories such as business card holders and similar gift items to be used as promotional give-aways. "Soft" tool changes allow for easy application of engraved personal names or company logos. Raster engraving turns 256 levels of gray into 256 levels of laser power.
    A popular material for engraving
    Acrylic materials are commonly used for laser engraving. Stunning pictures with impressive see-through effects can be created by engraving the backside with a mirrored design. Vector-engraving follows the contours and outlines of geometrical figures on a continous path, while Raster-engraving is rather like printing. The laser scans the image line, engraving a grid of tiny dots. Using constant laser power alters the density of the dots to create 2D images. Gray levels of the picture are translated into laser power to produce impressive 3D sculptured plies.
  • Electronics
  • Membrane switches are a huge application field involving laser processing. Precise, with low tolerances and high flexibility, the laser is the first and obvious choice for fast prototyping or when quantities are too low to justify steel rule die cutting. Together with the optical regcognition system, sheets are automatically registered and digital die-cutting is effected.
  • Wood Cutting
  • As it does not require clamping, no stress is induced in the workpiece. Blind cuts can be made easily. Inlay work in veneer or solid wood for pictures, furniture or gifts articles are easily accomplished with the aid of software compensated kerf width.
    Filigree work, toys, souveniers etc.
    Very detailed pieces and filigree work can be carried out without the restriction of the minimum internal radius imposed by milling machines and similar mechanical methods due to the narrow kerf width. Possible applications: jigsaw puzzles, toys and souvenir items.
  • Industrial Textiles
  • Industrial textiles, such as sound-suppressing and insulating materials, gauze, filter materials and natural or artificial fibres, can be lasered at high speed to accurate contours. A large number of textiles can be lasered regardless of the pile direction, whether they are fine or coarsewoven or light or heavy materials. Production output can be further increased by means of automatic material feeding.
    Cutting of foam materials and filter mats
    SFoams and filter mats are cut without deformation, as the cutting process is non-contact and is therefore carried out without applying any force. Mechanical fixing is not required.
  • Packaging
  • The laser's versatility makes it an important tool in the packaging industry, instrumental in processes from samplemaking - creasing is substituted by precise ablating of material at reduced laser power - to dieboard cutting in a variety of base materials (multiplex, plastics).
    Samplemaking, die-cutting and much more
    When quantities are too low to justify steel rule die cutting, the laser can do the job. Combined with an optical recognition system the laser is turned into a digital die-cutting system and precise control of the laser's power lends it equally to the cut and the kiss-cut.
